Gentlemen, behold!
Well, I finally went and did it. Summarily fixed my little bluetooth problem, too. Would have gotten Linux in the shot, too, if I'd had it in the virtual machine (give it time).

At any rate, I have a laptop machine that outclasses any desktop I've ever had. This has huge implications for both saving time and wasting it. For example, now I can get to porn almost 2x faster. Not to mention MAME - this is the first machine I've had that can run G-Darius at full speed, as well as Radiant Silvergun. Now if I could only get it to accept input from the Wii Remote.
Neat little quirk I discovered: if the volume is muted, and you plug in headphones, it comes back on. Removing them mutes everything again. Quite handy.
