  And we're done
Yeesh, do I really look like such an ass?

Anyway, the soul patch makes life a lot easier. Kept the sideburns, too, since they're usually covered, and anyway T.H. Huxley was a pretty cool guy.

  Farewell, facial hair
Holy tits, has it been that long since I blogged? I was just thinking about how I should start writing for the public more often, but jeez. Well, here we go.

Attached is an image of my face during this writing. I grew the beard out of a misplaced need to feel macho, but those feelings have passed. Shaving is imminent.

What I wanted to talk about was the current lack of balance in my life, to wit the battle between entertaining work and pure entertainment. I try to enjoy most things I do, even classes, but all too often I find myself reading Wikipedia (which is a poor substitute for real research), watching videos on YouTube, or, lately, playing Guitar Hero. None of these is bad in moderation, but there is very little moderation on my part.

Other things that I'd like to do include polishing up my German/Moonspeak skills, programming for the DS, writing, drawing, and learning to play my mandolin. Getting some more exercise would be nice, too. I've been struggling against the urge to consume (rather than produce) for a long time now, and I have made progress, but very little over the years.

Worst part is, I'm taking classes again, so I have to unlearn the habits I picked back up over winter. Best thing I can think of to do is get outside more; it's the only thing that has consistently helped me. So, I'm gonna be spending a lot more time at the coffee shop :)

Anyway, enough rant. I'll get better at writing as I get back into the swing of it. Time for a shave.
