CFS Impressions
As you may or may not know, one of the new features to be included in Linux version 2.6.23 is a new task scheduling system, known as "Completely Fair Scheduler," or CFS. I've just installed the first release candidate, and, well, I've barely noticed anything. Barely. I think it
might be helping a little, because things don't seem to slow up
quite as bad when compiling heavy stuff in the background. So far, however, it hasn't cured cancer or given me any free blowjobs, and on the other hand, it isn't making anything any slower, so I fail to see why there's such a big fuss about it.
